Editorial policy

Research you can trace.

Our sources, working methods and correction process for PentaBay Insights and Field Notes.

Who publishes

PentaBay’s editorial responsibility.

Insights is published by the PentaBay Energy Research Desk, without attributing personal qualifications that have not been established. PentaBay is responsible for topic selection, text, tables, citations and updates. We write for EPC, equipment, development, trading and finance teams assessing energy and infrastructure projects.

PentaBay Field Desk prepares Field Notes from direct experience and internally held records. We distinguish verified facts, recollections, proposals and unresolved matters without disclosing confidential source documents.

From a practical question to publication.

  1. 01Define the question
  2. 02Read original sources
  3. 03Structure the analysis
  4. 04Link the evidence
  5. 05Check before publishing
  6. 06Update and correct

We start with the reader’s decision and the risks of missing information. Facts, general principles, our analysis and matters requiring specialist advice are kept distinct. We connect sections to numbered sources and check claims, calculations, links, dates and limitations before publication.

01

Source priorities

We prioritize the original material closest to a claim: laws, regulators, governments, public companies, international institutions, official tenders, contracts and statistics, and directly held records. Next come first-party developer, financial and technical guidance, followed by traceable research. News and search results identify questions; core claims are checked against original sources. Currency alone does not make a source relevant.

02

Tools and AI

Software and generative AI may assist search, calculation, drafting, translation and editing. Their output is not a factual source. PentaBay remains responsible for published content and updates. We do not publish ungrounded mass-generated pages, rewrites without sources or invented cases.

03

Advertising independence

Advertising is clearly labelled. Advertisers do not determine topics, sources, wording or conclusions. We apply the same editorial standard with or without ads. Ads are not placed on navigation, policy, tool or enquiry screens, or in firsthand Field Notes.

04

Field records and privacy

For internal documents or photographs, we identify the record type, the facts supported and any current rights, contracts, supply, buyers, finance or outcomes it does not establish. Records from different transactions are not presented as one continuous event. Confidential names, terms, signatures and personal information are withheld.

05

Conflicts of interest

We disclose any commission, information provision or commercial relationship directly relevant to an article. Where a relationship cannot be disclosed and prevents an independent explanation, we limit the scope or do not publish.

06

Updates and corrections

Published means the original publication date. Last checked means the last review of source links and core explanations. Language and layout changes do not imply that sources were rechecked. Minor typos may be corrected quietly; errors that change conclusions, calculations or risk interpretation are corrected with context. Content that cannot be maintained responsibly is archived or withdrawn.

Corrections

Help us check the record.

Send the article URL and section, the disputed statement or calculation, and a verifiable source link with the relevant passage. Verifiable factual errors take priority over general comments.
